Drive down Capreol’s welcoming streets any time of year and you’ll see it, a community shaped by the hands and hearts of its residents. From freshly groomed cross‑country ski trails to the restored cenotaph, the tended cemetery, the riverfront monument, a restored antique fire truck, the many flower planters and trees, and the mural on the CN building, each project carrying meaning, memories, and pride.
For Lynn Mazzuca, Capreol isn’t just where she lives, it’s who she is.
With a population of approximately 3000 people, Capreol is a quiet and quaint community nestled in the northernmost part of Greater Sudbury. With its deep-rooted history spanning over 100 years, its fairy-tale beauty attracts people from all over Sudbury and beyond.
“It’s the people,” says Mazzuca when asked what makes Capreol special. “People here care deeply about keeping the legacy and future of our community strong.”
The Sudbury Community Foundation (SCF) is pleased to announce that more than $114,000 has been awarded to 29 community service organizations through its 2026 Community Grants program.
“This year’s funded programs and projects support community priorities across arts and culture, environmental stewardship, youth engagement, health and wellness, food security, services for seniors, recreation, and community connection,” said Shelley Lachapelle, Executive Director of SCF. “We are deeply grateful to our Fund donors and supporters for making these investments possible and for helping ensure essential programs that uplift our community are available.”
